To promote research and development among researchers in India, ITT has launched the ‘Innovative Technical Textiles Store.’ This initiative allows researchers and startup companies to purchase small quantities of fibres, yarns, fabrics, and garments for initial testing and validation. Few examples are mentioned below:
High-performance fibers play a crucial role in advanced research and industrial applications, offering exceptional mechanical, thermal, and chemical resistance. Some of the key fibers used in research and specialized textile development include para-aramid, meta-aramid, modacrylic, flame-retardant (FR) viscose, ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMwPE), stainless steel, antistatic fibers, polybenzimidazole (PBI), ABPBI, polyacrylate, novoloid, and polyphenylene benzobisoxazole (PBO). These fibers are widely utilized in protective textiles, aerospace, military, automotive, and industrial safety applications due to their high strength-to-weight ratio, heat resistance, and durability.
